How to Do a Habitant Ecclesia Compassion Meditation Session (The fourth pillar)

Option 1: The participant clicks on the ethereal music provided by this site by clicking on the white arrow at the bottom left of each section after going to the founder’s vignettes/verses in this site’s blog section, scrolling there and for several minutes while reading each vignette/verse twice. Or, as an alternative option, the participant goes to a music selection, probably on YouTube, and selects music that the participant finds fitting to evoke a contemplative and emotive state of mind that elicits a sense of empathetic compassion.  This will probably be one of the many “ethereal music” choices.

Option 2:  Or, as another alternative option, the practitioner (if they do not have appropriate music on another device), opens a separate browser session (such as opening Google again), while leaving the YouTube music choice open and playing on the first Google opening. Use of ear buds or headphones will likely enhance the aerial immersiveness of the meditation experience.

Option 3:  As another alternative option, the participant listens to the meditation music while viewing the compassion-eliciting depictions of their choice, which may include art or photographs.  Some practitioners may prefer to do their Habitant Ecclesia mediating by simply sitting, while listening to the ethereal music with eyes closed and moving their head slowly about as if searching the far reaches of the great infinity as they follow the sweeping nature of the music, conjuring within themselves a deep sense of reverie, empathy, compassion and tender regard for all.

Option 4:  As another alternative or option, the practitioner may turn to reading the Ten Pillars or reading or writing of vignettes (poetry, aphorisms, admonitions, etc. of their choice, include those they have composed on their own — see some examples at the end of this website). The meditation session may continue for such time as the practitioner deems fitting. This practice for a meditation session, some practitioners may also include reading the “Habitant Ecclesia Devotional Creed” repeatedly while listening to ethereal music.

The point of it all is to simultaneously look deep and wide with all of your being into the great infinity in order to reach out to and within it and make a connection of oneness with the ethereal whole of it and do so with with a sense of compassion, trusteeship, collegial partnership and high regard in the sense that you are it and it is you.

Other Meditation Mode Options: To do a Habitant Ecclesia (HE) meditation session, I suggest sitting in a comfortable position with palms up and open (although any comfortable position will do).  Play a desired ethereal music selection (such as the music on the HE website) while visualizing or looking at an image or images that elicit a sense of empathy and compassion. These images may be images of great joy, sad images or even images of natural wonders. Assume an attitude of openness. A session should last from 10 to 20 minutes.  A headset may be used to minimize distractions and enhance the sound and sense of immersion in the session.  Individual meditation sessions will likely be done while sitting in front of a computer screen. The objective of a HE meditation session is to create a sense of a oneness of mind of empathy and compassion with the great infinity and all that is within it.  Practitioners may also, as they choose, stand or move their arms as a gesture outward or upward to the great infinity and back in to fold their hands over their heart as a means of creating a sense of openness and reaching out in sync with the ethereal music they are listening to. As their meditation session, some practitioners may prefer to read the Habitant Ecclesia Devotional Creed repeatedly while listening to ethereal music.

Devotional Creed

Let us be all we can be

With beneficence and dignity.

Let us persevere for all

As witness to all

For compassion for all.

Let us aspire to hold ourselves tall.

Let us lift up those who fall.

Let us seek insight and value in

The harmonies of the ethereal

And the immersive joys of the personal.

Let us hold the individual high

As we, for all, reinforce community and

Create security and equality of opportunity.

Let us reach out to others

As friends, sisters and brothers.

Let us hold truthfulness high.

Let peace be with us and prosperity be for all.
